Frazier - Cell and Molecular Biology of Integrin Regulation
A postdoctoral position is currently available to study the functional interactions of CD47/integrin associated protein with its ligands, thrombospondin and SIRPalpha, with its co-receptors, the integrins and with their associated signaling molecules. We have defined these interactions biochemically and have developed panels of cell lines deficient in CD47 or particular integrins. These will be used for expression of fluorescent protein fusions of CD47, integrins and signaling proteins to study the localization and interactions of these components in living cells using fluorescence imaging techniques. Of particular interest is the role of CD47 in integrin-mediated cell motility (Brown and Frazier, Trends Cell Biol 11:130, 2001) and in programmed cell death (Manna and Frazier, J. Immunol. 170:3544, 2003). A background in microscopy of livng cells, fluorescence methods and molecular biology is required. Start up funding is available for this position with the expectation that candidates will be qualified for fellowships from national funding agencies such as NIH, AHA, etc. Interested candidates should reply via email to frazier@biochem.wustl.edu . Postdoctoral positions are available for studies of DNA motor proteins (helicases) involved in DNA repair and SSB protein-DNA interactions using biochemical, biophysical and mutational approaches. Particular emphasis is on mechanistic studies using transient kinetic methods (fluorescence, stopped-flow, quenched-flow) as well as thermodynamic (equilibrium binding and isothermal titration calorimetry, analytical ultracentrifugation) and structural (x-ray crystallography) approaches.
